What is Gator Gaming?
Gator Gaming is a University-Gaming organization ran by a group of talented students at the University of Florida. Gator Gaming was established through an initiative to grow the gaming communities in Gainesville, the University of Florida, Central Florida and beyond. Gator Gaming is noteworthy for winning the Razer University Showdown, a competition designed to find and recognize the largest/best University-Gaming Organizations in the world.
Gator Gaming is unique in that the organization provides Up-Scale Gaming events at minimal/no cost to players. We plan and run GatorLAN, as well as weekly events on the UF campus and throughout Gainesville. Check out our staff page to get a glimpse of the team that makes it all happen.

What is GatorLAN?
GatorLAN is the largest FREE Tournament- Gaming event in the Southeastern United States. It occurs 3 times a year, and is open to the general public. The event takes place in the beautiful J. Wayne Reitz Union Grand Ballroom and features competitions for the hottest games, Sponsors Booths, Exclusive Demos, Great Prizes, Raffles, High-Definition Live-Streams, an Explosive Stage Experience and more! Not to mention, it is 100% free and open to the public. |

Do I have to be a UF Student?
Not at all. Anyone can play as long as they attend the event and obtain a wristband at the registration desk. How much does it cost? Absolutely nothing! All the tournaments are free to enter, and there is no cost to spectate. Do I have to pre-register to get in as a spectator? No, simply show up to the event and obtain a wristband at the registration desk. No prior registration is currently required to spectate. How do I register to play a game? Check the registration page to see if registration is currently open. Registration generally opens one month prior to the event. What does TO mean? Tournament Organizer. Each Tournament has a respective TO responsible for coordinating that specific tournament event. If you have a specific question about a game, contact that game's respective TO. When do doors open? Doors open at 10 am. How do I get there? The Reitz Union is located at 655 Reitz Union Drive on the University of Florida Campus. www.union.ufl.edu/AboutUs/DirectionsandParking |
What should I bring to GatorLAN?
Do I have to preregister to play? For PC games, yes. For console games, we do not require preregistration; however, depending on the popularity of a game, we may or may not have a cap on the number of entrants, so we highly encourage entrants to preregister, and to do it as early as possible. When does registration close? Registration deadlines vary by game. Typically, PC games will have a deadline before the event to run preliminary qualifiers. For console games, registration closes at least 3 days before the event. If you are unsure about a deadline, you should look in that game's rules or contact that game's TO. Where is my game located? All Smash games will be located in the Rion Ballroom, while all other games will be located in the Grand Ballroom. The Registration Desk is located in front of the Grand Ballroom. Does GatorGaming do other events other than GatorLAN? Yes, we have weekly smash fests. What if I can't make it to the event?
